Project - Human Activity Recognition Data Exploration and Visualization
Overview: In this project you will work with data containing motion censor data from an experiment to investigate the accuracy of motion sensors built into smart watches.
0. Read "READ ME" file and if you are curious, the original paper explaining the experiment is also posted "p127-stisen Heterogeneity.pdf"
1. Download and expand the "Watch Accelerometer Data" file. The data table contains measurements taken from nine people engaging in six different activities, as recorded by 4 different watches.
2. Create a subset of the full data file restricted just to the two types of Samsung Galaxy Gear watches. All of the analysis in this project will focus on these two watches.
3. Let's see how accelerometer readings are associated (if at all) with the six types of human activities. Use your judgment to create one multi-panel graph that shows the distribution of "X" readings for the Gear-1 watches, grouped by the six different activities. (boxplots, histograms and similar graphs would be good choices)
4. Create a similar graph for the Gear-2 watches.
5. Briefly describe the similarities and differences in the X readings for these two watches.
6. Explore the data using appropriate numerical and/or visual summarizing methods and list three insights.
7. Write a paragraph reflecting on issues, challenges or learnings from this project.
Deliverable: You'll need to create and "knit" a R Markdown file that includes your r code chunks, output and your commentary and responses. Upload the output in a word file format to the course website. The word file should be about 10 pages in length.
