Can you check if I answered these questions well?
If you think about the city of LA, in what ways was does LA support Urban Ecology and/or Political Economy?
The development of the city of Los Angeles is mainly due to the support of Political Economy because nowadays the government focuses more on economical and political interests. For example, government officials used strategic investment in favored neighborhoods and placed the Los Angeles City Hall in the center of other building around it in Los Angeles Downtown, purely attributing to their political interests.
In addition, government policies tend to designed for improving the standard of specific regions, for example downtown areas, but keeping racial minorities out by moving homeless shelters and making public seats at bus stops and subway stations uncomfortable are for economical interests and the government is pushing for growth in the city due to the goal of making Los Angeles an international megacity.
What is your group's biggest take away from introduction to sociology?
Our biggest take away from taking the Introduction to Sociology is that we learned the study of sociology is not based on common sense.
Before taking SOC 200, We thought that common sense could explain most of the sociological concepts by simply assuming that something is good or bad, but after this whole semester of studying sociology we realized that sociology also depended on research methods and specific data as well as numerical evidence to analyze and support concepts such as race, gender, and inequality in society.
