Can you please help me find example and support the argument below?
Through discussing the specific examples from New Guinea, I argue that French colonialism had negative implication for urban/social development of African continents.
1. Although French colonial planning initiatives sought to facilitate the attainment of preconceived colonial objectives, the compartmentalization of land use activities exacerbated public transportation problems.
2. Also, the introduction of French building codes and standards contributed to discouraging the use of indigenous building materials and techniques in favour of imported varieties.
3. Although French infrastructural development may seem it transformed colonies into modernized European cities, its urbanization was merely for maintenance of colonial power.
I need to expand this argument using the examples below.
The direct transplantation of French architectures in New Guinea:
Construction of hotels like Hotel du Niger for travelling salesman and visiting colonizers were important for maintaining colonial infrastructure. The contamination of European architectural forms was typical for longer process of colonization in New Guinea.
Post office played central role in establishing control as a main tool of communication between colonizers and colony for resource extraction.
4. Social exclusion: hospitals for white and indigenous, Indigenous district: informality of indigenous territory an European styled towns. European colonizers confronting with diseases not existing in Europe: development of hospitals for tropical diseases important for colonizers' health. Poor condition of hospitals for local population clearly distinguishing from hospitals for colonizers.
