Floating post

As we continue to think about what we have read in the assigned chapters, one of the questions we should answer is: Did the changes we are discussing in technology and what historians refer to as the Market Revolution make women's lives better or worse?

Of course, the answer is complex in that it did both - so it would be good for us as a class to discuss the way which the changes introduced by the Market Revolution affected women? What new opportunities did it extend to them? How did it help to extend the boundaries of freedom for women? What were the new challenges to freedom brought into women's lives by the Market Revolution? How did they respond?

Finally, we should talk about how race changed the experience of women during the Market Revolution. Did all races of women experience the same new opportunities? Or were the boundary-extending consequences of the Market Revolution experienced differently by women depending on their race?
