Purpose
You will produce your own interview, much like those featured in the course, with an entrepreneur, leader, or manager. Understand the thoughts, feelings, and aspirations of individuals that consider themselves an entrepreneur, leader, or manager or a combination of two or all. Analyze the dynamics of individual characteristics and traits as it relates to the dynamic marketplace. This assignment will meet the following course objectives:
- Students will identify why knowledge is critical for the success of a particular company and identify the managerial implications of its attributes;
- Students will be prepared to critically analyze and evaluate the various life-stages of a firm;
- Students will comprehend the role of entrepreneurship, leadership, and management in the development of organizational strategies;
- Students will be introduced to the topic of global and virtual teams working in international and entrepreneurial companies;
- Recognize new opportunities for introducing innovation in wide-ranging organizational settings;
Task
Write a feature article for your interview. For this assignment, the student must consider himself/herself as a reporter that is writing a featured article for the Washington Post, New York Times, The New Yorker, The Atlantic, or any other paper or magazine that he/she likes to read. It is critical that the student asks questions, goes past the surface level, and finds out what makes the entrepreneur engaged.
- Identify the most important facts surrounding this person.
- Identify the key entrepreneurial, leadership, or managerial moments.
- Specify key surprises or learning moments.
- Evaluate based on your own knowledge and readings.
- Reflect on your personal experience before, during, and after this interview.
The interview style is open-ended and can be defined in any way the student prefers. Emphasis is made on the fact that this final product must be interesting and must engage the reader.
The final product should be like a magazine or a newspaper article. The student does not need to send the transcript/additional content of the interview. Please note that if the student completes the interview in a Q&A format, the maximum points that may be given is 6 points. Therefore, it is important that the student writes an article. The interview style is open-ended and can be defined in the way you prefer.
