Review each case and indicate the correct code(s). This is a 32-year-old, Type 2 diabetic female. She was diagnosed approximately two weeks ago and now presents for an initial assessment and intervention for medical nutrition therapy. She does not want to have to take insulin, so her doctor agreed that, with some nutrition counseling and exercise, she may be able to avoid it. We spent 30 minutes discussing the American Diabetic Association diet plan and how to implement it. We also discussed exercise and how to work it into her schedule. She will follow-up with me in two weeks to see how things are progressing. If she has any problems before then, she will call this office.
