You are a student of International business negotiation course in the EPGDIB (2019-20). It is 10 am on Saturday and you have the last and final paper of International Business Negotiations tomorrow i.e. Sunday at 11 am.

You have not been able to prepare for this paper because of personal and professional commitments. You have also not been able to attend all the classes for the same reason and also primarily because you have been travelling. You have been doing very well in all other papers and this is the last examination which will eventually decide whether you will get the gold medal or not. You are in the race with two other classmates who have been doing equally exceptionally well in the last three years.

However, you realize that if you appear in the examination tomorrow you are not likely to do well because the examination pattern is not known. Your other classmates have also not been forthcoming with any supportive information except to the extent that the Faculty has informed that this year the paper will be different. You are desirous of appearing in a re-test preferably after seven days. Others have been provided this opportunity in the past though there is a 10% cut in the marks if there is a retest. In addition to the exam there is also a project to be submitted after the exam and class participation has also been given a weightage. You have sent a mail to the Faculty and the Programme Director last night.

Surprisingly both have responded quickly. The Faculty has stated that the examination details or re-appearing in the test is not within his authority and advised to contact the Programme Director, though he is okay with setting a second paper for a re-test. However, he has also stated that he is willing to meet you after you have spoken to the Programme Director.

The Programme Director has advised you to see him at 3 pm. You are in a dilemma as you go to meet him 5 hours later. Please prepare for a negotiation with the Programme Director.
