There are about 800 different languages spoken in New York - It's one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the world. But what is common and accepted for a professional in one city, could be very different than someone in another city in another part of the world. And, it's not only language. Local Culture (how people dress, greet each other, etc) affects international business in three core areas: communication, etiquette, and organizational hierarchy and it's important to understand your co-workers or clients from abroad. For this week's discussion topic, if you have experience in dealing with someone from a different culture (in a business setting), explain some of the important differences that you know of. Do Google search and find something that is different from the way US businesses operate.
