Question

Adolescent presents to the emergency department and reports abdominal pain for the past 24 hr. Adolescent states pain began as intermittent mid-abdominal cramping, but is now constant, more intense, and located in the right lower quadrant. Adolescent reports vomiting, diarrhea, and pain as 7 on a scale of 0 to 10. Abdomen tense to palpation. Hypoactive bowel sounds auscultated. Color pale. Respirations rapid and shallow. 1200: Adolescent reports they "feel better" and that their pain suddenly "went away."
