The pituitary gland is often called the master endocrine gland because it releases so many hormones that have so many major effects on the body. But the pituitary gland in turn is controlled by another hormone secreting gland. Where do the hormones that affect the pituitary come from? These pituitary affecting hormones have two major effects on the pituitary gland hormone secretion, what are they? There is also a very interesting anatomical relationship between these two regions (hint - it has to do with blood vessels). What is this type of anatomical relationship called?
