The Integrated Business Project is the core capstone unit in which students undertake independent research individually (in exceptional cases in teams) under the guidance and supervision of an appointed member of staff with established research expertise. The research project is proposed by the student and must be formally approved by the supervisor. The project will require the student to apply knowledge and skills across the disciplines in an integrative fashion. The project must be broad enough to facilitate this outcome.
In this subject you will have the opportunity to apply the research skills that you have acquired in your previous subjects. You can choose your own research topic, which must be business related. If you study a major (Management, Marketing or International Business), we suggest that your research topic comes from this particular field.
Ideas for your research topic can come from your previous studies from a company that you work for, from your family business (if applicable), from products and services that you have been using, from brands that you are interested in. Your supervisor will guide you how to find your individual research topic, if necessary.
Your supervisor will allow you to look at previous research reports, however, students are expected to find their own research topic. Should two or more students wish to study the same topic, your supervisor may request you to change your research topic, or the research angle adopted. Students are usually expected to do an individual research project, whilst team projects may be available in consultation with the supervisor.
