WA #1 -- Instruction Memo with Audience Profile
Instructions
Please see the below instructions for WA #1.
What to do : Write a memo to your instructor describing the audience of decision makers (primary) and others (secondary) for your Instruction Manual. Identify your primary audience and secondary audience, if any. For each audience, describe the following:
- What audience demographics, such as education, professional experience, personal characteristics, and cultural characteristics, are important about each audience in relation to your topic?
- What is the audience's level of knowledge about your topic?
- What is the audience's interest in your topic?
- What is the audience's attitude towards you and your topic?
- What does the audience need to know about your topic?
- What are the audience's expectations about the topic?
- How will the audience use the project documents?
- How can you effectively organize the information?
- How can you design the documents?
In other words, tell your instructor about your audience and how you can tailor your project documents to these audiences.
If your audience is a group and you use the audience profile sheet in analyzing your audience, develop a profile of a representative individual of the group to describe in your memo. Please do not submit the Audience Profile Sheet.
Note: Your memo should contain a thesis, or purpose, statement and a developed description of each of your audiences. Try using headings in your memo to identify the topics you discuss and to use as a transitional tool between ideas.
