Question

The client is a 34-year-old G1P1. She had a precipitous labor and delivery and is now ready to initiate the first feeding for her newborn. Her pregnancy was uncomplicated, and her prenatal laboratory work and assessments have all been within defined limits. She is married and works on a farm harvesting vegetable. She plans to return to work in 6 weeks. The chosen method of feeding for the newborn is breastmilk. The client is ready to feed her newborn and asks the LPN for help with the bottle. When the LPN inquires as to why the client has chosen to supplement, she responds, "I don't have any milk yet."
