Question

When CDPs are required or expected to share information with third parties, they ensure that details are discussed and documented with clients as part of the initial and ongoing informed consent, including the nature of information to be shared, with whom it will be shared, how it will be shared, and when the sharing will occur. Risks and benefits of the release of information are part of ongoing informed consent. Career Development Professionals determine whether a formal, signed consent for release of information form is warranted. In cases in which there is a potential for harm, the client refuses release, or there is a legal prohibition for the release of information, CDPs consult with another qualified professional and/or seek legal advice.
