Emphasis on, and expectations from its training function changed on an annual basis, and was part of its strategic reviews and planning process. This strategic approach to training was noted in organisational documents and observed during the case study visit.

Training leaders representing every service group assisted the central L&D team. In addition to this structure, each group had a team of process trainers and training leaders. Sharing of training resources from various groups helped in bringing together common issues and "good practices" from all areas, for the purpose of sharing them with others in the organisation.

Organisations and Information Systems

Any business, big or small, must have a system in place to collect, process, store and share data. In the past, these tasks required a lot of time and paperwork. Today, companies use modern technology to streamline and automate these operations. Information systems are now playing a crucial role in data processing and decision making. When used correctly, they can positively impact an organization's overall performance and revenue. Thanks to modern information systems, team members can access massive amounts of data from one platform. For example, they can gather and process information from different sources, such as vendors, customers, warehouses and sales agents, with a few mouse clicks.

Referring to the informational content on Information Systems (IS) and the impact IS has on an organisation, elaborate on a Health Information System (HIS). Include two examples of a Health Information System. Highlight the benefits of a HIS.

Problem 2

When an information system is implemented and used in an organisation, there are three dimensions that must be considered namely, Organisation, Technology and Management. It is vital to understand these three dimensions in order to understand the information system. Discuss in detail the three dimensions of an Information System.

Problem 3
With a traditional approach to Information Technology (IT), the technology capabilities are housed on-site. The site, or company, purchases the hardware and software that are necessary to meet the technology needs of the business. Hired IT personnel take care of making any technology changes or upgrades, and perform any troubleshooting that needs to happen if something goes wrong.
Discuss in detail the limitations encountered with traditional information technology (IT).

Problem 4

Information and knowledge management systems are vulnerable to technical, organisational, and environmental threats from internal and external sources. The weakest link in the chain is poor system management. Suggest technologies and tools to management for protecting a firm's information resources.

Problem 5

COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology) is globally accepted as being the most comprehensive work for IT governance, organization, as well as IT process and risk management. Briefly explain the four domains that make up the COBIT framework and list the benefits of adopting the COBIT framework to an organisation.
