Genes can interact in many ways contributing to one's development as well as certain conditions such as substance use disorder, poor vision, personality traits, intelligence and many health issues including heart disease.

Provide two examples from your own experience where you observed the influence of genes and environment coming together for a particular area in development. This can be you or someone you know or have observed. In your view, is this leaning more on the environmental or genetic side and why? Do you think that the environmental factors have contributed to any genetic predispositions? Explain how they impacted an area of development.

For example, a child has developed a learning disability at age 5. Was this the result of genes and environment or just was this the result of the environment that the child has been exposed to?
