2. Text for Assessment instructions:
(NB. this may be included in the Assessment section of the Unit Outline and/or in a separate Assessment document)
Postgraduate units:
This is an English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA) designated unit. ELPA is part of the Faculty of Business and Law's commitment to developing the academic English language proficiency (ELP) of all students.
You will receive ELPA feedback on one assessment. Markers will apply the relevant ELPA criteria alongside the unit's assessment marking criteria to indicate if you would benefit from further development of your ELP. There are three (3) possible levels of achievement using the ELPA criteria:
- Below expectations; or
- Meets expectations; or
- Exceeds expectations.
If you are identified as ‘below expectations' through the ELPA, you will be required to complete Advanced SUCCESS. This is a self-paced, online academic literacy and assignment skills program which is administered and marked by FBL's Academic Communication Development Team. Failure to complete Advanced SUCCESS if required will result in a Fail-Incomplete (F-IN) grade for the unit.
You are not required to submit any additional work to be assessed for ELPA. The level of achievement you receive for ELPA for this assessment does not affect your mark for this assessment.

- Objective of this study
- Background information
- Motivation / why / importance
- Brief literature on independent and dependent variables (what has been done before)
- Theoretical support (brief - summarised one)
- Research Gap - what has not been done
- Your research Questions - Clearly / Explicitly state your research question
2. Country Background:
3. Literature Review and Hypothesis
3.1. Literature on Independent variable
3.2. Literature on Dependent variable
3.3. Theory - which theory are you applying
3.4. Your hypothesis of this study - combine both (independent and dependent variables research articles and suggest what do you expect)
PART 2 - Financial Analyses Report
Methodology and research design
The Introduction provides a summary of the research methodology and clearly identifies the sample details and statistical techniques used (Model design).
Data collection and sample
An overview of the data collection of the study.
The sample selected must be from listed firms and not less than 30 firm-year observations (5 firms for 6 years). The firms can be listed firms from ant country but you will need to justify your selection.
Variables description (e.g., Independent variable, dependent variable and control variables) used in the study with definition of each variable used in your model(s) provided as an appendix.
Empirical results and discussion
Descriptive statistics analysis (table and discussion)
Correlation matrix analysis (table and discussion)
Regression analysis (table and discussion)
Conclusion and Recommendations
Clearly explains what you find in your analysis, how this relates to related findings in the literature, how it contributes to the existing body of research and implications for that firm, industry, policy etc. Avoid making generalizations-be specific and back up your assertions where possible.
Writing qualities and referencing
Writing is clear and concise. Grammar, spelling, and punctuation are correct.
Chicago referencing format is followed for writing, citations and bibliography.
