Two Benzoic acid compounds A and B. Compound A has OCH3 attached on carbon four, Compound B has NO2attached on carbon four. Compound A has a PKa of 9.4. Compound B PKa of 13.0. Please explain why the difference in PKa and why compound A is more acidic than compound B. Does inductive effect and electronegativity come into play? How about resonance?
