Individuals with lactose intolerance lack the enzymelactase for breaking down the milk sugar lactose. the undigested lactose becomes food for intestinal beateria. as the bacteria convert energy from the milk sugar into usable energy, gas is produced . this gas may lead to bloating and abdominal cramps. what do you suppose has been added to lactaid dairy products to help the individual with lactose intolerance.
