There was one day when I was in high school, I was so sleepy and overwhelmed with stress. I just lay in bed the whole day even though I knew that there was a test today at school. In the situation where I want to sleep but know I have to go to school, there are multiple factors at play. My desire for sleep and rest is a primary desire influenced by factors such as fatigue or comfort, while the knowledge of having to go to school represents a secondary desire, a long-term goal or obligation. In this case, the primary desire for sleep outweighs the secondary desire, leading to an inconsistency in my actions. This doesn't mean that I lack free will entirely or that free will is limited to specific situations. Rather, it highlights the complex interplay of different influences on our decision-making processes. Free will, according to soft determinism, exists in the sense that an individual has the ability to act in accordance with his/her own values and goals, but it does not guarantee that you will always act consistently with them.
