Vanessa has obtained two true-breeding strains of mice, each homozygous for an independently discovered recessive mutation that prevents the formation of hair on the body. The discoverer of one of the mutant strains calls his mutation naked, and the other researcher calls her strain hairless. To determine whether the two mutations are simply alleles for the same gene, Vanessa crosses naked and hairless mice with each other. All the offspring are phenotypically wild-type. After intercrossing these F1 mice, however, Vanessa observes 115 wild-type mice and 85 mutant mice in the F2.
What is the most likely explanation for the segregation of wild-type and mutant mice in the F2? Are the naked and hairless mutations alleles for the same gene?
Using symbols of your own choosing, indicate the genotypes of the parents, the F1, and each of the phenotypic classes of the F2 progeny. Describe any gene interactions in this set of crosses.
With the help of an appropriately labelled diagram(s), describe how growing bones increase in length.
Diploid nuclei of the ascomycete, Neurospora crassa, contain 14 chromosomes. A single diploid cell in an ascus will undergo one round of meiosis, followed in each of daughter cells by one round of mitosis, producing a total of eight ascospores.
Glycogen synthase catalyzes glycogen synthesis. determine whether each of the following are associated with an increase or decrease in glycogen synthase activity.
If for a snapdragon population, the frequency of the red allele is 0.6 and the frequency of the white allele is 0.4, what are the frequencies of the red, pink and white genotypes?
The role of ATP hydrolysis in actin polymerization is similar to the role of GTP hydrolysis in tubulin polymerization: both serve to weaken bonds in the polymer and thereby promote depolymerization.
He determined that the rising phase of the action potential in ltxnsp neurons was due to a sudden increase in PK. What should be the sign and approximate amplitude of the voltage change of these action potentials? Why?

Assume if you analyzed the average size of individuals in many dog and wolf populations around the world, how would you use this to determine where and when dogs were domesticated from wolves?
Two highly inbred strains of mice are crossed, and the FI generation has a mean tail length of 5 cm and a standard deviation of 1.5 cm. The F2 generation has a mean tail length of five cm and a standard deviation of four cm.
you observe 50,000 RFUs in a 200 microliter aliquot from a G3-500ml culture. How many total RFUs will be present in a 15 mLsample? If you recover 80% of the fluorescing protein during purification, what would the maximum total number of RFUs prese..
