Directions: In this paper, you will explore a food memory that is important to you. You will write a 3-4pp.memoir that is food-related; it can be an extension of the diagnostic or it can be about a completely different food if you wish. After reading the essay selections in class, you should realize that memoir does not have to be in chronological order, it can be funny or serious or both, and it only needs to be about one or two particular moments or events in your past. The smaller the event or issue you choose to discuss, the more time you will have to describe it and analyze how it affected you and your present identity. The memoir piece is by far the most creative assignment this semester, so try to have fun with it.

The food memoir should:

be detailed & descriptive
be original and interesting to read
be organized in a clear but interesting way
be ocused on food in one way or another
make connections between past events and the present
have a specific tone throughout
