Question: The stock market is a network of exchanges where investors can buy and sell shares of public companies. If you were to buy shares of Apple stock, Apple would get money from it. Apple is essentially selling shares of stock to the stock market in to help raise money. The stock market helps the company raise funds for operations (Tretina, 2022). When you buy shares of Apple stock, Apple is exchanging your money for ownership stakes. When Apple lists shares for sale, they get the money needed to operate and expand business (Tretina, 2022). Apple can take the money from the shares they sold and use it to benefit the company without going into debt. In return Apple is giving the stock share buyer a piece of ownership.
