The standard free energy deltaG0 for the alcohol dehydrogenase reaction is 5.5 kcal/mole. Assume that you start with 1.5 x 10^-4 M ethanol and 8 x 10^-4 M NAD+, and run the alcohol deydrogenase reaction in the absence of semicarbazide. Formulas and constants to remember R = 1.98 cal/degree-mole ; Delta G0 = -RT lnKeq. T = 298 degrees K. How much NADH will be produced in the above reaction, assuming that no NADH or acetaldehyde was present initially?
