In many situations, the quality of the air we breathe can determine the state of our health. Polluted air can cause problems on a large scale, such as in Mexico City, Mexico; Beijing, China; and Norilsk, Russia. Alternately, health issues can also occur on a much smaller level, such as in an office building or even a home. Choose an environmental health problem caused by polluted indoor or outdoor air. After researching this problem, respond to the following.

• Describe the problem and discuss its importance, using specific statistics and references.
• What is currently being done about this problem (e.g., regulations, policies, programs, interventions) on the global, national, or local level? Again, support your answer with specific facts.
• Identify potential gaps or additional assistance needed for this problem, and describe a potential community public health or stewardship intervention (not a clinical intervention) that you feel could be beneficial.
