Question

The American Nurse Association (ANA) has listed the 'Improving Care and Access to Nurses Act' as a top priority for the organization (American Nurses Association, 2024). This proposed bill would remove barriers for nurse practitioners to provide services for Medicare patients and receive full reimbursement, the same as physicians currently do (Library of Congress, 2024). This change in reimbursement for federally funded care would improve access to care without increasing costs. Patients who currently require care from physicians only due to insurance restrictions often face unreasonably long wait times to be seen for care, and their health could be at risk of deteriorating due to these delays.
