The style approach expanded the focus of leadership from personal characteristics to incorporate leadership actions. Leadership style consists of task and relationship behaviors. The style approach has been validated by a number of studies. Further, this understanding allows us to consider our actions as leaders and what we might want to change to improve our leadership effectiveness. We do have to keep in mind that there is no one style that will work in all situations. The high task and high relationship style is not always the best style.
