First sample

The United States charges way too much for lifesaving medication. Despite my opinion on the outrageous prices, I support importing drugs to the United States. Looking into the importation of drugs, you will discover that it's not as simple as someone sending a box of pills from one country to another. The prescription drugs have to be adequately screened by the FDA (Soracci, 2020). This screening includes analyzing the drug over months and setting up the regulation they will have as they are sold in the United States. The drugs are then continuously screened to ensure they are held to the same standard as when drugs initially passed the screening.

Drug prices are higher in the United States because citizens do not have free health care and pay undisclosed fees. Some hidden fees include import, customs, and insurance when receiving a pharmaceutical. As each year continues, the amount of medications created in the United States decreases, costs to develop them stateside are higher than internationally. Companies look to see what will make them the most profit, even with import and custom fees. If they can save costs and charge more to consumers, the company will always go to what makes them more revenue.

If companies were to move back to the United States and begin creating medication here, it would be costly for the company and the public receiving the drug. However, the cost of moving and producing would eventually pay itself off and allow the price of drugs to balance out. The drug prices would be high for some time which would be unfortunate but cutting out the middle man would benefit the public and the country's self-sufficiency. Another way to keep the prices at a minimum would be for the U.S. government to create bills that put a cap on what providers can charge for medication ("Why are prescription," 2019). Medication should be affordable for everyone and no one should have to worry about the cost of saving their own life.

Second sample

The definition of prescription drugs is the medications that are prescribed by doctors. As for the question, of whether you support or oppose the importation of drugs into the United States, as a possible strategy for addressing the issue with high prescription drug prices, I would be in support. I would support the importation of prescription drugs to the United States as it will prove to be an advantage for consumers and the overall market. Prescription drug prices are increasing due to advertisements across television and other social platforms. If there were importation of these prescription drugs then the price will be in good standing. This will relieve the cost pressure on residents and will maintain safety. Maintaining safety and savings for the consumer will make their much-needed prescriptions more accessible. Thus, making a healthier America for many Americans can afford.

However, in the importation of prescription drugs, it should adapt existing federal laws - abide with the required legislation; avoidance of FDA workloads thus there will be a possibility of discovering other technological developments on the prescription drugs; there will be staffing through increased licenses and fees for participating supply chain vendors (market effect); directly import patient drug costs, and finally, it allows importation of costly biologics.

It should be stated that the importation of prescription drugs has a few things we need to keep in mind. Maintenance of its safety must be sustained and an effective strategy needs to be made for competitive market price.
