Content: One of the most important competencies that the DSL program hopes to develop in its students is consulting skills. Whether you are acting as a consultant to a client organization or your own, you must possess the skills to influence and implement strategic change. To that end, using Michalko's concepts and techniques, conduct one of the following:

A three (3) hour brainstorming creativity session with people in either your client's organization or your own organization and create a new organization or part (e.g., division, branch, section, etc.) of that organization. - OR -
A three (3) hour brainstorming creativity session with people in either your client's organization or your organization and solve one or more problems in that organization.
After the session, write a report to the senior leadership of your client's organization or your organization or to a possible funding/approval source (e.g., to financially underwrite a new enterprise) that recaps the three-hour session and presents your creative direction or new organization.
Finally, write a one (1) page analysis of what you learned from the experience and what you would do differently next time.
Note: Here are guidelines so that you can properly allocate your time: five (5) hours preparation for brainstorming session; three (3) hours for session delivery; and five (5) hours to write the reports (total of 13 hours).
