The purpose of this exploratory study was to examine the relationships between social support networks (family support network, friendship support network) and the shorter and longer-term of homelessness among a random sample of nine hundred individual (men-women). Many significant differences in size of support network and reliability of support network found between shorter and longer-term groups. Few substance use disorders and depression disorder (the only from psychiatric disorders) were associated with a social support network. Results of this study suggest the possibility of developing interventions programs to profit access to positive social supports network as part of solving homelessness problem.
