Given the importance of written communication in organizations and the class learning objective to further develop this skill, this memorandum discusses the specifics of the second of your two writing assignments this quarter. In this assignment, as in the previous one, you are to use a full one-page memorandum format (identical to this one) with one-inch margins, single spaced, and a 12-point font (Times New Roman is preferred). Same as before, you are also expected to pay attention to your writing construction (i.e. sentence and paragraph setup, logical flow, etc.), grammar, punctuation, and spelling, as the appropriate display of these skills
is a critical factor in establishing the credibility of your communication. With these guidelines in mind, below are the specifics of the assignment.
Carefully read the article titled "How A Mobile App Helped One Organization Boost Employee Engagement" by Natalie Burg featured on the Forbes website on December 25, 2015. You will find a copy of the article in Blackboard under the Memo Assignments section. The article relates how Bluebridge Digital implemented new technology in its efforts to boost employee engagement. As you read, make sure to understand the details of the article and think about what the author is "claiming", "arguing", "asserting" or "suggesting"?
The format to communicate your understanding and analysis of the article is as follows:
- First Paragraph: Provide a brief summary of the article. By brief, I mean no more than four or five sentences. Focus on the essential ideas and facts presented in the article.
- Second Paragraph: Relate the article back to this course. Identify key ideas and concepts we have discussed in the course and both describe and analyze how they relate to the topic discussed in the article. What are some key elements of organizational behavior discussed or evident in the subject matter of the article? Additionally, think about what is the author's purpose in writing the article and how it relates to business in general.
