After examining the Latin American, Asian, black, and Russian organized crime entities the one that was most interesting to me was the Asian organized crime. Asian organized crime dates back to the common area and their code of conduct focuses on the importance of staying loyal to the organization and keeping key relationships to keep the business running properly and maintain trust (Abadinsky, 2013).
I found it interesting that the Asian organization didn't necessarily focus on one type of business they were involved in multiple different ways of getting income, they did not have regulations on what they could do for income or the crime they were allowed to commit, however after the Vietnam war they started to focus on drugs and human trafficking as their main source of income (Abadinsky, 2013). The Asian organization would also present themselves as if they were trying to change the government, corrupt policies, or fighting for a better community, when in reality they were trying to portray themselves as they were helping the community when their goal was to exploit and take advantage of the immigrants.
The Asian organized crime is different than that of an outlaw motorcycle club, as motorcycle clubs operate by only following the laws, regulations and societal norms that they feel are correct, there is structure like the Asian crime organization however they tend to live more carefree and have connections globally to make their income, motorcycle clubs have also not been around as long as organized crime and are not as widespread or have as much control as the Asian organization. Both of these groups have to rely on supply and demand to keep their businesses running and profitable (Abadinsky, 2013).
