Many scholars argue that continued housing disparities in the United States are an example of the effects and importance of racial capitalism. As we have seen in class, from the end of Reconstruction to the present, American cities have been plagued by persistent racial housing segregation.

In this essay, first, define racial capitalism and then describe how the government, developers, and banks worked together to create and sustain segregation in residential housing through redlining and other practices. Make sure that this description helps to further illuminate the idea of racial capitalism.
