The nursing topic I chose is the importance of persuading and helping our Percutaneous Coronary Intervention patients attend Cardiac Rehabilitation. According to Chong et al., 2024, many PCI, heart failure, and Coronary Bypass patients do not participate in Cardiac Rehab due to lack of transportation, lack of support from family, and less acceptance of technology usage. Technologies such as access to emails, videos, and the new telehealth can benefit PCI patients if they choose to participate. The proposed initial nursing intervention is to identify the barriers to not participating in the cardiac rehabilitation program. A simple questionnaire can help our Coronary Artery Disease patients address the issues and possibly find a solution that can persuade the patient to attend and benefit from Cardiac Rehab. Finally, I would like to involve our healthcare team case managers to address possible transportation and insurance problems that can hold back our affected patients.
