"The Metamorphosis" is the most famous novel written by Franz Kafka. The author wrote the novel on his feelings of self-hate, incompetence and being controlled by others around him. The book is identified by depression, negative emotions, individualism, contradiction, and absurd situations that happen within a real world; we feel like if we were reading a novel that takes place in a surreal world, when the situations are real and representative of everyday life. The author wrote the novel with a deep emotion and intellectual sincerity that it continues to affect the lives of others until today.  It is a psychological story that addresses one of the societies main problems: the denial of voice, the psychological repression and social suppression. The underlying theme of "The Metamorphosis" is an existential view that says that the given choices are the ones that rule a person's life. The novel calls for the importance of maintaining a balance in our lives between work and distraction.
