You are the nurse manager in a a small department within the 400-- bed Médica Sur Lomas hospital, in which most of the patients speak English as a second language. During a recent interdepartmental meeting, the infection control department reported a two-times increase in D from last year. Knowing the significant financial impact of hospital-acquired infections and accreditation standards, this issue must immediately be addressed by your department.
