Question

A mini policy that aims to help address the issue of same-day cancellations would have to be implemented for the health organization to meet its goal of >2%. The new policy should follow ACA guidelines such as having clear communication between the providers and patients. A document for the patients should be made for them to sign in which states their understanding of the date and time of the surgery and what the surgery will consist of. Next, in the policy there should be a cancellation fee in which in detail states that the patient must provide an advanced notice prior to their surgery in which a specific time frame must be set such as 48-72 hours in advanced before a cancellation fee will be billed to the patient. Allowing flexible scheduling of surgeries can be beneficial to the patient so that the specific date and time would best accommodate the patient and can lead to less cancellations of same-day surgeries.
