Topic - Implementation of ceramic materials in disc brakes to increase braking efficiency, lower wear rate and ensure extended lifecycle
Objective:
This group assessment task requires students to compile a detailed research project proposal that specifies the scope and plan of the group's project.
A brief description of the task:
In this group task you and your team will submit a research project proposal. Please submit only one proposal per group. The submitted proposal will be no more than 5000 words.
The submitted proposal will be marked according to the marking rubric associated with this assessment. This part of Assessment Item 4 is worth 30% of the total assessment for this unit, each member of the group will receive the same mark. However, the unit chair will have the discretion to adjust individual grades based on the feedback received during the group updates, particularly in relation to non- or under-performing students.
What you need to do:
This is a group task. Your group will be required to submit a research project proposal that summarises the: research aims, scope and outcomes, literature synthesis, refined research question/s, research methodology, evaluation of safety, risk and ethical considerations, timeline of scheduled tasks, justification for necessary re- sources, need for research and research impact and team charter including team communication strategies. The final submission should also include a section in an appendix detailing the contribution of each group member.
Assessment requirements:
This assignment is to be undertaken as a group (preferably of 5 students - groups larger than 5 will need permission from the unit chair).
Make sure that any analysis you present is your own work and not simply a summary of what is presented in the source or reference materials.
• Be critical in your identification and analysis of information.
• Carefully follow the assignment requirements.

• Use figures and tables sparingly and only if necessary.
• Use a basic and common font (i.e. Arial or Times New Roman).
• Use an appropriate font size (10 or 12 pt).
• Adhere to the word limit (max 5000 words) and be concise.
• Your submission must have at least 25 quality references.
• All references must be relevant to the topic.
Your submission should be in a simple text-based format, with an appropriate layout consisting of sections (with section headings). For example, your section headings may be something like the following:
