Scenario: Your learning team has been contracted to advise a high-tech organization in the Midwest who desires to develop and implement an internal leadership development program within their organization. The CEO and CFO of the organization have come to the realization that it must develop its leadership talent in-house and has relied upon external training and development firms to perform this task in the past. The client is endeavoring to develop its leaders internally to assume greater positions of authority in the future. The CEO and CFO are both strong leaders who have experienced a high degree of resistance from both senior and middle management in bringing leadership development in-house. The overarching source of this resistance originates primarily in two factors: 1) Senior and middle management do not have the time to devote to leadership development, and 2) A majority of the organization’s managerial and employee population is made up of highly technical individuals and simply do not see the value of leadership development or what they refer to as the “soft skills”.

Your job will be to develop and present a proposal presentation to the CEO, CFO, and senior management team that will not only address the challenges in the aforementioned scenario.

The methodology used is Kotter's 8 steps to change management and I am responsible for two questions:

What are the detailed benefits for using this approach?

Provide a justification for why the cultural changes are necessary. (This justification or the "sell" should be robust enough to help support the CEO and CFO in convincing their management team that the change is necessary). Your detailed development of the business case for change.
