Companies today are concerned with employee health and safety on the job. Many companies are starting wellness programs that encourage employees to stop smoking, offer gym memberships and privileges, sponsor weight loss programs, provide on-site medical care, and take other actions to improve employee health. However, these same companies often overlook the impact of workplace stress on an employee's well-being. In fact, a study showed that physical conditions related to stress, such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and depression, lead to about 120,000 deaths per year. Studies from Harvard and Stanford show that between 5 and 8 percent of health care costs can be linked to how employees are treated in the workplace. If you were the HR Vice President for a company with 2,000 employees, which of the following changes would you recommend reducing workplace stress?
-Implement a telecommuting policy that allows employees to work from home when necessary.
-Allow employees to have more control over how they do their work.
-Strongly encourage employees to exercise, lose weight, and adopt other healthy practices.
-Offer employees the opportunity to work longer hours so that they can have a four-day workweek
