Project - Informafion and Description

Learning Outcome 1: Implement a systematic design and synthesis process to a real-world electrical engineering design problem.
Learning Outcome 2: Analyse, evaluate and formulate a creative design solution for an electrical engineering design project.
Learning Outcome 3: Research and orally present contemporary developments in electrical engineering design.
Learning Outcome 4: Apply effective teamwork skills to collaboratively plan, research and communicate outcomes of an engineering design project.

This is a two-student group project.

You have been employed as an engineer and have been tasked to design, simulate and generate the layout of PCB taking into account a number of constraints related to the application. You need to install the design, simulation tools and other resources necessary to reach your goal.

Project Description:

This project is to design a power losses reduction circuit to minimize the energy consumption in industries and establishments. This substantially reduces the electricity bill and improves the efficiency. The power losses can be reduced by improving the power factor. With low power factor, the need of energy increases to meet the load demands. An increase in the reactive power decreases the power factor and the efficiency. This project is to design a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) for a power factor correction circuit for a single-phase load using all required power and electronic components.

Note: Altium designer is only available in windows 10, 11.

Altium designer will be the main software for designing the PCB circuit in the project. Altium provides free education courses (including free license of Altium Designer).
