Case Study
Students are to write a report on the Hazelwood mine fire which occurred in 2014.
1. The incident, i.e. what occurred
2. The impact
3. The aftermath
4. National and international reaction
5. Impacts on the social reputation of the mining companies involved
6. Key learnings to ensure such an event does not occur again This assignment will require research by the student.
The expectation is a presentation in a report style, suitably referenced.
Papers should be structured as follows, with each part of the report beginning on a new page:
o Title page with assignment title and name and s student name
o Contents page
o List of figures (if any)
o Body of paper (main text) - the structure and sub-headings of the report will vary from topic to topic
o Discussion
o Conclusions (if any)
o References (all reference material that supports or adds to the student's understanding of the main text)
o All figures and tables need to be appropriately referenced and have appropriate captions
Page Numbering
The text and end matter should be numbered in a single sequence (beginning with the first page of the main text and continuing through to the final page of the end matter) using Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, 4...).
Word Count
An assignment report will normally be a text of not more than 5,000 words reporting original work carried out by the student, including, but not restricted to, visual presentations.
