Assessment Description
The purpose of this assignment is to assess your understanding of the impact of the Christian worldview on various areas of life, and to assess major counseling theories in light of the Christian worldview's biblical and theological foundation.
Describe in an essay that covers the following two parts:
Part One: Christian Worldview Foundations
Briefly describe the Christian worldview, and then describe how it influences the following areas of life:
• The nature of man
• Morality, character, and virtue
• Gender and sexuality
• Family
• Cultural practices
• Suffering
• The purpose and meaning of life
Part Two: Christian Worldview and Professional Practice
• Choose two major counseling theories (i.e. cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, rational-emotive therapy, mindfulness-based therapy) and assess how they can be utilized in light of the Christian worldview.
• Explain how a biblical and theological foundation can inform your personal practice of Christian counseling.
Support your position by referencing the Bible, a textbook, and two to three academic resources, preferably from the GCU Library. Incorporate the research into your writing in an appropriate, scholarly manner.
