Impact of social media on Adolescents
The existence of social media has always received a fair share of praise and criticism from various players in society. Many sociologists have spent a substantial amount of time researching and writing on various aspects of this particular topic. Well aware of that reality, I am particularly interested in studying and researching the positive impacts of social media on adolescents' behaviors. This is an area that has been ignored for quite a long time. There is a need to explore and expose its underlying issues.
As already noted, many scholars have written extensively about this topic, albeit broadly. The focus has been largely on the negative implications of social media use among adolescents. The work of Bozzola et al. (2022), for instance, is an example of the many journal articles that have assessed the risks involved in the use of social media among adolescents. It is necessary to note that these researchers have always focused on individual areas of adolescent life. For instance, in an earlier research, Schonning et al. (2020) discussed the impact of social media on the mental health of teens. The authors stuck to the negative implications of the vice. Another recent research article by Gupta et al. also focused on how social media affects the mental health of young adults. It is necessary to note further that some authors, for instance, Beyens et al. (2020), have made efforts to make a two-sided focus on the question of social media. In their article, the authors examined how the effects of this vice vary from one adolescent to the other (Beyens et al., 2020). An attempt to examine the positive effects of social media among adolescents was captured in Kennedy's article published in 2019. He examined the positive and negative impacts of social media on the well-being of adolescents (Kennedy, 2019). There is a dire need to extensively examine the positive impacts of this technological trend among adolescents. The approach will not only contribute to the existing literature but will also allow for a systemized approach to the use of social media for the benefit of adolescents.
Annotation of an article is the process of examining its suitability for scholarly writing. It also entails assessing the author's arguments as well as the credibility of the article (Flaspohler et al., 2007). It is often done before the final writing of a research paper to ensure that one assembles all the relevant sources of information for evidence-based writing.
