My suggestion for your progression is to immediately identify a topic of interest to you, either from my list of topics or one that you discuss with me to get approval. You will then direct your efforts to obtain source materials through research. Before you fully formulate the direction of your argument you have to ensure that the source material is available and relevant. From here you will flesh out your thesis statement, or, the direction for your argument to grow from. Your thesis may change but it is important to attempt to identify this position early so that your paper is cohesive.

As we progress I will provide further direction for you. your additional tasks are:

identify a topic
begin to research and collect source material
formulate your source material into a defendable thesis position
think about your ultimate goals for your work (maybe write these down)
