Falling In Love

What happens when someone falls in love? Aron, Paris, and Aron (1995) addressed the impact of falling in love on individuals in two prospective studies. In their studies, they surveyed participants every two weeks, assessing whether or not they would report having fallen in love and self-concept and other variables. In their first study they found that after reporting falling in love, participants tended to show an expansion of self-concept. They included more diversity in their explanations of their self-concept and their self-descriptions were more positive. In their second study they found increases in self-esteem and self-efficacy.
