ASSIGNMENT - t-test, ANOVA, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskall-Wallis tests, Correlation Analysis
Produce a one-page document graphically illustrates a process for making decisions on which statistical tests to use. This document should fit onto one page and be visually appealing (meaning, neat, easy to read, free of grammar and spelling errors). Students should synthesize the information they have learned to date to come up with a procedure for how to determine which test to use. Keep in mind that we have several different dimensions on which to make this judgment (including, but not limited to, relatedness of groups being tested, levels of measurement, number and nature of variables being examined, randomness of data, distribution/shape of data, and heterogeneity of variances. Etc.).
Essentially, if a person knew the basics (like levels of measurement, and distribution/shape) they could take your tool and apply it to a data problem, and come up with a defensible test to learn something about their data.
You can use something like Powerpoint, Publisher, Word, or whatever. If you are an artistic type and want to draw your design on something like a whiteboard and snap a picture of it, that is cool too. The submission must be a PDF that I can view.
The mean of a probability distribution is 50 and the standard deviation is 5. What percent of the observations lie between 45 an 55?
Encountered because the data were not obtained from a randomized experiment? If not, can you imagine one?
A variable contains seven categories. It is expected that data are uniformly distributed across these seven categories.
It is important to look at data in a graphical form. Patterns are the essence of data exploration, and the eye's ability to discern forms and patterns makes visual display integral to the process.
A test is normally distributed with a mean of 40 and a standard deviation of 7. (a) What score would be needed to be in the 85th percentile?
If 1000 men and 1000 women are to be interviewed, how accurately could you estimate the difference in the proportions who think that the performance of their atheltics teams has a positive impact on the perceived prestige of the institutions? Find..
It is the last play of the game and the famous coach's team is on offense. If it makes 5 yards or more, it wins; if not, it loses. Both sides choose Nash equilibrium strategies.
What is the smallest slope of the curve? At what value of x does the curve have this slope?
In each of the following cases. find the mean , variance and standard of the sampling distribution of sample proportion p.
Plot the sales data as a time series and do you think this series is stationary or nonstationary
An investment firm with 10,000 clients would like to accurately forecast the average dollar amount their current customer will deposit over the coming year.
