There is little success in identifying repeat offenders (talking about violent and dangerous offenders here). We see recidivism rates of sexual offenders at somewhere between 15% and 40%, depending on a host of factors and methodologies. We must also acknowledge that many sexual crimes are unreported.

Read this line:

1. "Many of the variables commonly addressed in sex offender treatment programs (e.g., psychological distress, denial of sex crime, victim empathy, stated motivation for treatment) had little or no relationship with sexual or violent recidivism."
