Aim:

The purpose of the individual assignment is for students to reflect critically on their leadership and create an individual leadership development plan that will help you meet your future leadership aspirations.

Required:

1. Reflect on your previous and current leadership and identify your leadership strengths and weaknesses.

2. Identify and analyse at least five significant (positive or negative leadership situations/incidents/events from which you learned something important about your leadership) events/incidents/situations you have experienced in your life that can be applied to topics, concepts, theories, and principles related to leadership approaches, contemporary leadership issues and leadership in teams  you have learned about during this course. For each one:

  • Give some background and state what happened. Critically evaluate your actions and the outcomes
  • Evaluate insights gained during the experience, identifying lessons learned
  • Link theory and practice and based on the theory, identify what the theory suggests might be done differently and why (if applicable)

3. Select at least three areas of leadership which you would benefit by developing further.

  • Identify your short-term and long-term leadership goals.
  • Develop an action plan to achieve these leadership goals.
  • Detail how you will evaluate the achievement of these goals.

4. Present your findings using a report format with the following headings:

  • Title page
  • Table of Contents
  • Executive Summary
  • Introduction
  • Body with headings/sub headings
  • Part 1 Reflective Information
  • Part 2 Development Plan
  • Conclusion and Recommendations
  • References
