Case Study: Sunny's been in a relationship with Vanessa for several years. Sunny feels extremely close to Vanessa and highly values her opinion, so much that he consults her on everything from big decisions like purchasing a car to mundane, daily decisions as to what he should have for breakfast. If Vanessa is on a business trip or away for an extended period, she can be sure that Sunny is calling her asking about what clothes he should wear, and how he should spend his time. Vanessa has gotten sick and tired of Sunny "clinginess" and has decided to break up with him. This has made Sunny incredibly upset, he can't stand the thought of not having his partner make all of his decisions for him! Sunny had become so reliant on Vanessa's input that before going out on a blind date, Sunny called Vanessa to ask what he should wear only to discover that she had changed her phone number.
